The Playback Toolbar

Tool names and what they do …
Open:
Click to open ENF, TIF, PDF and MIDI files (file formats supported by SmartScore). Image files (TIF, TIFF, PDF) are opened in the Image Editor. ENF files are the actual SmartScore project files. These will open in the Note Editor. MIDI files appear in SmartScore’s MIDI Editor.
Save: Saves the currently open document to last saved location on your computer. To save to another location or a different name, use the menu command Exporting your work).

Selector tool: The Selector tool is used to grab and highlight objects by a dragging around them. Dragging over a range of measures with right-mouse down = Select temporary play range. See Selecting symbols
Karaoke: Sing your heart out. See Karaoke.
Playback Console: All things related to playback live here. See Playback Console.
Mini-Console: This floating tool lets you instantly input a particular measure to begin playback. The "scrubber" tool is a spring-loaded speedup/slowdown tool that lets you move ahead slowly or quickly. See Mini-console.
Instrument Change: Want to change the instrument sound in a part midway through playback? Click this button, place the arrow at the position in a measure and select a new instrument. See Instrument Change.
Drums: Add a pre-set drum track to accompany your playback. See Adding Drum Track.
MIDI Piano Roll View: Click here to select a track (staff) and open it in the familiar "Piano Roll" environment where you can edit pitches, durations and even MIDI Velocity values graphically. See MIDI Editor Views.
MIDI Track Overview: Get a bird’s eye view of all track in Overview. See MIDI Editor Views.
MIDI Event List View: Display and edit MIDI events for the conductor’s track (0) or any selected track (staff line) in your score. Voice, Time, Duration, Pitch and Velocity values are all displayed and editable. See MIDI Editor Views.
Zoom: Increases or decreases the view size of the loaded image document. To zoom in, click with the left mouse button, to zoom out with the right mouse button. If your computer mouse has a scroll wheel, you can also use it to zoom in/out. Hold down the button and turn the scroll wheel.
Undo: By clicking this button you can undo the last editing step carried out. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut + .
Redo: The last step you undid can be redone using this button. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut + .
Back page: If your scanned music contains more than one page, you can easily browse through your image files using the page forward/back buttons.
Page forward: Opens the next page of your image document (see above)
Open selected AU instrument plugin: To open the AU instrument plug-in, that has been selected in the Playback Setup dialog window, push this button. See Playback using Plug-ins.
Open selected VST instrument plugin: To open the VST instrument plug-in, that has been selected in the Playback Setup dialog window, push this button. See Playback using Plug-ins.
