SmartScore’s tablature display
SmartScore offers a wide variety of tools for editing TAB scores. Often both tablature and standard notation parts are printed on the same page (joined by a bracket). SmartScore can recognize and edit both formats simultaneously.
SmartScore is unique in that it dynamically updates the rhythmic value associated with fret number fingering clusters. Horizontal auto-spacing and colored voice differentiation are also applied automatically during editing. Powerful stuff.

To insert or edit a fret number, select any new note value and right-click the fret number on any string. The note value displayed overhead will update and the fingering cluster will shift according to the timing of the measure. Quick-select ( + Click on any existing note or note value) also works in the TAB display. Clicking on a fret number will open up a number-selector window where you can change fret number. Fret numbers can also be dragged from string to string as necessary.
Another powerful feature in the TAB editor is support for contrapuntal voicing similar to how SmartScore’s standard 5-line notation differentiates polyphonic voices by color (black = primary / red = secondary). This permits you to assign different MIDI instruments to each voiceline within TAB parts (e.g. apply a bass sound to the secondary voice).
